Earth Day is a special day to celebrate our planet and all the amazing things it has to offer. We celebrate Earth Day every year on April 22nd. Earth Day is important because it reminds us we can all do our part to help the Earth!
Here are a few things you can do throughout the year:
- Reduce, reuse, and recycle. This means using less stuff, reusing things whenever possible, and recycling things that can’t be reused.
- Turn off the lights when you leave a room. This helps to save energy.
- Take shorter showers. This helps to save energy and water.
- Plant a tree. Trees help to clean the air and provide homes for wildlife.
- Pick up litter when you see it. This helps to keep our planet clean and beautiful.
- Try composting. This is a great way to reduce waste and help the environment.
- Have an Earth Day scavenger hunt. Create a list of things to find in nature, such as a leaf, a rock, a flower, or a bird. Then, send your kids outside to find them.
- Make a recycled craft. There are many different crafts you can make with recycled materials, such as egg cartons, milk jugs, and toilet paper rolls. Get creative and have fun!
- Plant a seed. Watch your seed grow into a plant, flower, or vegetable. This is a great way to teach kids about the importance of plants.
- Read some books about the environment. There are lots of great children’s books that teach about the environment and how to protect it.
- Have an Earth Day party! Invite your friends and family over for a fun-filled day of Earth-friendly activities. You could play games, have a picnic, or watch an environmental movie.
