Giant bubble with sticks and string

Have you ever made a bubble so big it was taller than you? It’s like magic! Making giant bubbles is a fun science project that’s easy to do at home. Amaze your friends and family with your giant bubble-blowing talents!

What you’ll need:

  • Dish soap
  • Glycerin (you can find this at most drugstores)
  • Corn starch
  • Water
  • Two sticks (dowels work well)
  • String or yarn
  • A big bucket or tub

Bubble Solution:

  1. Mix up your secret potion: In your bucket, combine 2 cups of warm water with 1/2 cup of dish soap. Add 1 tablespoon of glycerin and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Gently stir it all together but try not to make too many bubbles yet.
  2. Let it sit! Just like a good cake, your bubble mixture needs a little rest. Cover the bowl and let it sit for at least an hour, or even overnight for the best bubbles.
  3. Wand creation: While you are waiting, create your bubble wand by tying a long piece of string or yarn between your two sticks. The longer the string, the bigger the bubbles!
  4. Time to blow! On a calm day, take your supplies outside. Carefully dip your string into the bubble mixture. Let the string get completely soaked.
  5. Gentle does it: Holding one stick in each hand, take a few steps back and gently swing your wand through the air to create a giant bubble. You can even run backwards to make an even bigger bubble!

Tips:

  • The weather matters: Giant bubbles love cool, humid days with little wind.
  • Patience is key: If your bubbles keep popping, try adding a little more glycerin to your mixture.
  • Practice makes perfect! The more you try, the better you’ll get at making giant bubbles.

Now you’re a giant bubble-making pro! Get outside and have fun creating the biggest, best bubbles ever!
